I can't exactly recall when my addiction started but I have quit cold turkey or weaned myself off many times only to eventually go right back to it.
Let me first tell you that I LOVE sugar. Seriously! Don't give me Splenda, Sweet & Low, Nutra Sweet, etc...none of that works for me. I need pure, 100% sugar cane.
I am almost 41 years old and can tell you that I have LOVED sugar my entire life. The sweeter the better is my motto.

One of my faves will always be the Coca-Cola Slurpee from 7-11. I have loved these for years but my local 7-11 always has issues with its Slurpee machine and for some reason it's always the Coke one that isn't working. So, I got tired of waiting for them to fix it and don't bother stopping there very much. But on the occasion that I do go there or another 7-11 and the Coke Slurpee machine is in working order, I most definitely treat myself!

Another favorite caffeinated drink of mine is a thing called Boost (Drink-A-Toast) and if you don't live in the New Jersey/Mid-Atlantic States you probably have no clue what I'm talking about. Boost is made in Southern New Jersey and basically its a fruit syrup that you add water to...the colder the better and it makes a delicious drink. Many convenience stores, restaurants, and delis in my area sell Boost Slushies...which rival the Coke Slurpee in my eyes. This is good stuff! In fact when my sister and I were kids, my mom stopped buying us Boost because we'd make it and drink it all in one day. Needless to say I would be bouncing off the walls. The only way I'd get a Boost fix was if I was over my best friend's house whose Mom always had Boost on hand or my neighbor's house, because she had it too. Now that I'm an adult, I can buy it anytime I want, and shockingly my son doesn't care for it. Which is probably a good thing. By the way, you can buy Boost in a de-caffeinated version but I prefer the combo of sweetness and caffeine myself.

And I have 2 McDonald's within a couple miles of my house, so to make the daily trek to one of them only takes me a few minutes. Which only enables my addiction....HA HA HA!
Yes I know how many calories are in that drink and how bad all that sugar is for me but I don't care...really.
The only reason I did or do quit drinking caffeine (every once in awhile) is just to see if I can function without it (which I can).
But every now and then, I do a brief detox, get on the wagon then let myself fall right back off...life is good!
